Sidney Crosby Team Canada Hockey Jersey Shadow Box

Look what came in to be framed... An autographed Sidney Crosby “Authentic On-Ice Team Canada jersey” from the Vancouver 2010 Olympics! There were 2010 of these on-ice Team Canada jerseys made, with 87 of them being Sidney Crosby jerseys. When my customers watched Sidney Crosby score the winning goal for Canada in overtime against the USA, the wife immediately purchased one of the jerseys as a keepsake. It took 7 years, but they finally got the jersey autographed and then they brought it to me to be framed.

This jersey was challenging to mount... There was a patch on one sleeve which the customers wanted to show but was not in an ideal position for folding the sleeve. The jersey’s fabric was quite different from other jerseys that I’ve worked with – very thin and slippery. I could only temporarily pin the jersey in place along seam lines while I attached the jersey, so the pins would not leave holes in the fabric.

The frame was built from a classic black shadow box moulding from Larson-Juhl’s Confetti line. One of Larson-Juhl’s fillets was hand-painted red to match the red jersey and stacked with the shadow box moulding to give the frame a more custom look. The mats were conservation mats from Peterboro Matboard. Another custom design feature was displaying the score of the gold medal game along the spacer located behind the bottom portion of the mat. Tru Vue’s Museum glass was chosen for its 99% UV protection and amazing clarity.

My customers loved how the shadow box turned out and have it proudly displayed in their games room.
