Jarome Iginla All-Star Game Hockey Jersey Shadow Box

This autographed Jerome Iginla All-Star jersey and memorabilia (ticket from the All-Star game, VIP pass, and photo of Jerome Iginla signing the jersey) was brought in to be re-framed after the original frame was damaged.

I had to be extra careful when I removed the jersey from its old mount board as it had been stapled in place with heavy duty staples, and I wanted to minimize the damage caused by the staples.

I always use a form, made from 4-ply conservation matboard, inside the body of the jersey which helps support the jersey and smooth out wrinkles. I use a combination of nylon tags and a lot of hand-stitching to attach the jersey to the mount board. In this case, the large number 12 was sewn onto the jersey crooked, but I was able to straighten the look of it by shifting the number and hand-stitch along the outside edge of the “12” to the 4-ply form to keep it in place. I centred the photo and added a ‘mini-mat’ around it to give a more finished look.

The frame was built from a classic black shadow box moulding from Larson-Juhl’s Confetti line. The mats were conservation mats from Peterboro Matboard. Tru Vue’s conservation clear glass was chosen for its 99% UV protection.
