A medal from the Blue Nose Marathon is
framed in this shadow box. The medal
is held in place with a piece of archival
clear polyester film (Melinex #516),
cut in the shape of the medal, with ‘legs’
passed through to the back of the matboard.
Even though the face of the medal has a
raised design, the Melinex appears almost
invisible. Melinex provides an effective,
reversible, and almost invisible mounting
method. The ribbon is held in place with a few
strategic stitches, with the majority of
it hidden behind the back of the matboard.
A classic black shadow box moulding was paired with black suede mats and Tru Vue's conservation clear glass, which provides 99% UV protection.
