Vintage Provincial Junior Baseball Champions Poster Frame

My customer’s father, a retired commander in the Royal Canadian Navy, was quite the baseball player in his youth. She had a photo of him in his baseball uniform along with a poster of the 1948-1949 Provincial Junior Champions when he played for the “Young’s Nationals” team. She also had a copy of his obituary which detailed his love of sports.

The original poster was framed along with a sepia toned photo and copy of the obituary.  A chestnut colour wood moulding from Roma Moulding’s Arber collection was chosen to give the feeling of a wooden baseball bat. A dark brown/black conservation mat was chosen to complement the tones of the original poster and the mat openings were cut with a reverse bevel as the white bevels would have looked out of place.
Since my customer wanted to have multiple copies framed for various family members, the poster was scanned and restored in a black and white tone.  Photo restoration of the photo and obituary notice were done by me, while the restoration of the poster was done by the experts at Atlantic Photo Supply.

For the reproduction poster, a simple classic black moulding from Larson-Juhl’s Brooklyn collection was paired with a dark grey conservation mat.

Tru Vue’s conservation clear glass was chosen for its 99% UV protection and used for all the frames.
What a wonderful tribute to pass along to family members; a family heirloom for sure!
