Military Shadow Box - Example 12

My customer brought in some military memorabilia that belonged to her deceased father. He had been a proud member of the the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada. She had some old photos of her father which needed photo restoration (damage repair, cropping, re-sizing and converting all to a consistent black & white tone). The memorabilia included his hackle, a couple Black Watch patches and his miniature medal rack. Although it is hard to see in the above photo, all these items were mounted on a piece of Black Watch tartan.

In order to accommodate the thickness of the hackle, the shadow box frame was a combination of a face frame and a deep extension box, providing a frame depth of 2 inches. Hidden stitches through the middle portion of the hackle were used to attach it to the tartan covered mount board, as well as a couple stainless steel pins. Tru Vue's Museum glass was chosen for its outstanding clarity and 99% UV protection.

My customer was thrilled with how the shadow box turned out and it will be enjoyed as a family treasure for many years.
